MAY 2023: THE BEST (CURATED BY US)

THE BEST WAYS TO FEEL GOOD

With sunny skies, rising temps and the first tastes of summer embracing us in our everyday–we’re in the mood to have a happy state of mind all the time. From puppy yoga to new hair care products, here’s our curated list of the best ways to feel good this month.

THE BEST SHOPPING

Cozy touches, silky strands and yummy chill pills are at the top of our feel-good shopping list.

UPGRADE YOUR HAIR CARE

We use every excuse to support our FRĒDA Women, and this month is no exception. Dianna Cohen started Crown Affair to empower people to redefine their relationship with hair through clean, luxury formulas. Mission accomplished, we’re obsessed with every single product.

CHILL OUT MORE

Sometimes we find it hard to unwind from our day so we reach for Molly J CBD gummies to calm our minds. Handmade in small batches from the finest ingredients, Molly J promotes a calm sense of well-being so you can relax, sleep or be present with friends.

KEEP COZY ON THE GO

Our go-to packing accessory? Attersee’s Alpaca wrap. Founded two years ago, Attersee offers considered essentials to elevate the daily ritual of getting dressed. Their herringbone wrap was designed to feel like you’re never running out of comfort–so every airplane and hotel will feel like home.

THE BEST READS

Love stories, cleaning our closets to clear our minds and mental fitness emails–let’s get reading this month.

LOVE TO LOVE IT

We laughed, marveled and smiled through every page of this book. Curtis Sittenfeld’s latest book is a love letter to the art of romantic comedy, so is fittingly called Romantic Comedy. Based loosely on a writer for Saturday Night Live, get an inside look at working there and the journey of falling for a musical guest.

CLEAR YOUR MIND (AND CLOSET)

The feeling of renewal strikes us every spring and turns out we’re not alone. Vogue writer Lauren Valenti explores the mental health benefits of “Spring Cleaning” in this article. Read on to see how you can clear your mind, and find control in your home and your life by taking a few bags to Goodwill.

GET YOUR MIND MOVING

A few years ago, Selena Gomez–in partnership with Mandy Teefy and Danielle Pierson–got to thinking about mental fitness (aka working on your mental health). Together, they started a daily newsletter called Wondermind with the intention of creating an inclusive space to navigate your feelings. We love the daily articles, interviews and thoughts that pop up in our inbox and think you would too!

THE BEST ENTERTAINMENT

Let mental health podcasts, puppy yoga and comedy therapy entertain you all May long.

TUNE INTO MENTAL HEALTH

We’ve loved Madhappy from the beginning–and not just for their perfect loungewear. Their dedication to educating on mental health through their blog-turned-podcast series The Local Optimist has been a huge inspiration to us as business owners. We’ve listened to almost all 100+ episodes, but highly recommend Episode 91 with Ty Haney and Episode 97 with Kenneth Kole to get you started.

GET DOWN WITH DOGS

We’ll call this section puppy therapy. Woof Wellness was started in NYC by Sophie Hessler with the goal to bring humans and dogs together through mindful movement. So she puts on yoga and pilates classes where the special guests are rescue dogs you can adopt after bonding with in class. Plus, each ticket sale includes a generous donation to local shelters.

MEET YOUR SHRINK’S SHRINK

Here’s your permission to binge this entire series in one day. Shrinking follows the ever-complicated lives behind three therapists (Jason Segel, Harrison Ford and Jessica Williams). Based on the sad truths of life, they’ll bring a half-glass-full approach to dealing with your problems–and have you laughing the entire way.
