JUNE 2023: THE BEST (CURATED BY US)

THE BEST THINGS FOR OOO

Bags packed, flights booked and auto-reply on–we’re in the season for taking time for yourself. From crochet style to living (and touristing) outdoors, here’s our curated list of the best things for your upcoming OOO energy.

THE BEST SHOPPING

Your new favorite SPF, crochet everything and fresh shades make the shopping list this month.

COOL IN CROCHET

With summer temps rising, all we can think about is breezy clothing–namely crochet and obsessed is an understatement with these handknit pieces. Alisdaknit is a mother-daughter duo located in Turkey that we’re not only happy to promote but happy to share too.

ELEVATE YOUR EYEWEAR

Much like footwear, we know eyewear can change the entire vibe of an outfit. Started by Kristen Aronsson, Aperçu pieces take cues from French style but bring an approachable mood to classic cool girl shapes. We want every last pair.

SHIELD YOUR SKIN

You might have avoided it growing up, but we all know sunscreen is essential. We’ve been loving Summer Fridays’ Shade Drops recently for its lightweight texture and glowy finish.

THE BEST READS

Go beyond the bookshelf with audiobooks, a Nordic state of living and quick city guides.

DO AS THE NORWEGIANS DO

With so many places to see in some cities, sometimes you get caught up in the tourist game. We’re approaching our summer travels as Norwegians approach life: friluftsliv, aka “free air life.” It’s all about stepping outside and just enjoying the fresh air–so we’re giving you permission to take a break from the attractions and breath it all in.

TUNE INTO THE PAGE-TURNER

Our best friends have read it, my coworkers have read it and even our moms have read it–so we’re adding it to our list but as an audiobook for an upcoming road trip. Named the best book of 2022, “Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow” explores a 30-year friendship and creative partnership. That’s all we know, and we can’t wait to see what all the fuss is about.

TRAVEL VIRTUALLY (THEN BOOK IT FOR REAL)

Sometimes the fun is in the dreaming before the planning. Not anything new, but whenever a random rainy day hits–we dive feet first into New York Times’ 36 Hours series. It gives you just the right amount of inspiration to book the tickets already.

THE BEST ENTERTAINMENT

Tune into our DJ set (just kidding), take up a new hobby and obsess over the latest true crime on every adventure this summer.

WINDOWS DOWN, VOLUME UP

We made a playlist. It’s a mix of oldies, newbies and just all-around mood-boosting beats. Tune in for road trips cross-country, flights overseas or just your trip to your local market for a taste of our summer bops.

DO-EVERYWHERE HOBBIES

For times when AirPods die or our eyes are tired of looking at screens, we’ve decided to take up a new hobby. Wool and the Gang offers many beginner kits and tutorials to get you started so you’ll be knitting, crocheting, embroidering, or macraméing in no time.

PODCAST TO PASS THE TIME

We (like many) loved “Serial” season one and Sarah Koenig is back for another season of criminal court storytelling. This season is a little different, set in Cleveland, they spend a year inside a typical American courthouse giving you an inside look into the extraordinary stories of ordinary cases. Listen in to pass the time on every flight.
