The craft of producing a quality, timeless, make-people-stop-on-the-street pair of shoes from start to finish is one that takes a lot of skill, and a keen eye, or in FREDA SALVADOR's case, keen eyes. Recently, Cristina and Megan (co-founders and designers) along with Hillary (designer), traveled to Milan to attend Lineapelle...the be all and end all of leather and accessories markets. Traveling to Milan to attend this 'overwhelming' international exhibition is at the top of this design trio's list, for their sole focus is design and creating. All the pressures of logistics and operations vanish the moment the plane lands on Italian soil, and over the course of 3 days, their minds are free to soak in the Lineapelle offerings and the creative juices flow without any interruptions.
Favorite highlights of Lineapelle include the outstanding overview given of what's trending and the gathering of high-end tanneries showcasing the best of the best around every corner of the exhibition. With their thoughts and notebooks filled with pre-conceived design sketches and visions, FREDA's design team remains open-minded to what their ultimate choices will be for the season ahead. With a well established style, FREDA SALVADOR continues to remain true to their well-loved boots, oxfords and statement making fringes, buckles and signature embellishments while maintaining the perfect mix of textures and prints, yet they definitely find additional creative glee in new product development.
During their recent trip to Lineapelle, they were truly blown away with how the tanneries pushed boundaries in design and color. FREDA's design team described the majority of the market to be "psychedelic". One of their favorite leathers of choice was a white snake leather with what seemed to be a Jackson Pollock added tribute of paint. Without a doubt, TEAM FREDA will be showcasing and adding more amazing styles to the upcoming seasons.
